DX6i again

Bought a dx6i here, have a curious problem. When I bind without the aileron server plugged in everything is fine. As soon as I plug in the aileron server all control surfaces go nuts (transmitter on or not). The previous owner used the transmitter for helicopters (had 10 programmed in) so I'm not sure if the heli parameters are over riding something, would have thought binding would have erased any old settings. Both mixes are INH. This happens with two different receivers (AR6210's)

Any thoughts?

Stephen

Re: DX6i again

The only way his previous models could impact you is if you're using them.
If you bought a 6i with existing models setup, then you need to reset those and start fresh.

A new model with a fresh bind should behave normally (assuming everything is connected correctly).

You should always have the transmitter on when you power up the receiver. It does no harm the other way, but it's a very good habit to avoid surprises.

Re: DX6i again

honestly it sounds like a bad servo, servo extension or the ailerons are plugged in backwards. With the radio off spectrum enters a failsafe mode which hold last command for all servos except throttle which moves to the position the throttle stick was in during the binding process. If the servos are twitching with the radio off sounds like the servo is back feeding to the Rx. You can see if the pots are bad by checking the monitor screen on the radio when the servos are going nuts check to see if the arrows on the monitor screen are moving without you giving an input, if they are it's a Tx issue.

I have limited knowledge with helis but I've never seen a heli mix cause this issue before

So in short first thing try a different servo on ailerons, second check monitor screen. My best guess is servo

Re: DX6i again

I agree. Servo is doing it. Either that or the RX is defective.

Also, to the OP- why are you using the program paramaters for helis that the original owner has? you need to intialise the model number back to airplane to clear out the previous model memory and start fresh- same as what twistededge is saying

Not using the heli parameters, just was wondering if when binding some of previous setup carries over, like if a parameter not recognized by new receiver, ie mixes.

The first thing you should do is clear the model memory in that radio and start all over, you never want to use someone's radio that has previous programming in it. VERY VERY VERY BAD idea!
