Glorcs
Hello everyone,
I would like to know exactly were does the GLORCS race fees ($50.00 1st class)go to....Flaming donuts???? A web site does not cost that much to maintain...the so called bling is sponsored by others ( Hardcore GLORCS trophies were sponsored by SKYCRAFT although GLORCS was the one choosing the BLING) and how about the funds that are raised at the GLORCS awards??? HOW CAN GLORCS EXPLAIN THIS? RCPRO IS A WORLD RECOGNIZED SERIES and the charge less???????? NO one besides few of us know what the GALORCS is..... |

Obviously you somehow believe that GLORCS collects all or most of the fees taken from a race, and misappropriates the funds in some twisted way.
BOY ARE YOU MISTAKEN! In previous years, GLORCS collected a MEESELY fee of $300.00 per race to run its REGISTERED NOT-FOR PROFIT activities. That was a mere SIX ENTRIES per race that paid for the entire GLORCS operation. ALL THE REST WENT TO THE TRACKS - to keep the dollars in their facalities..... some of whom provided very well to its attendants, such as Hardcore has done in the past..... others who decided to not spend any money on swag or trophys at all. They know who they are, just as well as everyone else does. Funny, though..... GLORCS took ALL the blame publicly. Because of constant complaints from the racers, GLORCS upped the fees this year and took on the challenge of providing the trophys. What the new fee is, I'm unaware, but you can find the answer in one of three places: craig@----------- steve@----------- or you can ask molly/joe/jay what the fees were this year THERE IS NO SECRET ABOUT WHERE THE FEES GLORCS COLLECTS GOES TO If you have further questions about GLORCS, its not for profit status, the use of its funds, and why GLORCS didn't estimate correctly how many entries would be at Hardcore's race to cover ALL the classes, the person you should directly contact is craig@-----------, as he will have all the necessary information. In fact, send me a PM and I'll give you his phone number, that way there will no unanswered questions for you. Oh and thank you once again for taking the time out to attempt to publicly trash the GLORCS racing series, and all it has accomplished for the hobby in this region since its inception. GLORCS is SURELY the worst thing to happen to R/C racing since it was invented. |

GLORCS charges THE TRACK a flat fee per race. The host track then pays that fee, and retains ALL of the remaining money. GLORCS DOES NOT SPECIFY RACE FEES!!! All tracks who host races, follow the same set of guidelines, and one of those guidelines is that they are only allowed to charge UP TO A MAXIMUM OF $50.00! The registration fee for any GLORCS race may range anywhere from $0.00 to the maximum of $50.00 for the first class. It's entirely the tracks decision to determine the fees, as GLORCS gets it's 'fee' regardless of what the tracks weekends revenues where. In retrospect, the GLORCS series supports our tracks well, by allowing them to charge more for registrations. Here's something for you to ponder...if YOU were a track owner, and could charge a maximum of 50 dollars per class for one series, or 30 dollars a class for another series, or 40 dollars a class for another series, WHICH SERIES WOULD YOU WANT TO HOST??? I already know the answer to that question, and you do too! I will do a little inquiring about the trophies, website and banquet for you, and share the details afterwards. |

re glorcs
since ive been racing glorcs is the only series i have ever ran. imo its still the best organized series and you always have the top racers participating although the number of racers entering has gone down.
part of the reason for lower turnouts can of course be attributed to the rc pro series and the main reason imo is because of the economy . its a simple fact that guys cannot afford to race 2 series. i already knew that glorcs barely keeps any of the money generated from a race and that the track gets the lions share of the revenue . we did have races in the past where there were zero trophies for anyone because the track owner was greedy and only say dollar signs i.e niagara rc glorcs 2009 race. i dont care about mentioning the name of said track because ill never race there again but after the niagara fiasco glorcs said they would make sure that the top 3 for all mains would get hardware. so to goto a glorc race and not see trophies for top 3 in all mains as promised is disappointing to say the least. but for people to think that glorcs is profitting from their series is way off base . and the guys who help run glorcs are not paid for their time either. sometimes we tend to forget that they are volunteering . i just wish they would get the trophy thing organized and sorted out . imo its still the series to race in.

at least now is out in the open, and the ones reading this no longer have to wonder and blame GLORCS. We have to ask questions in order to get answers. You know what happens when we make assumptions don't you? |

What would you consider "greedy" ?
Would greedy be paying someone $30 to run on a track they have not cared for or touched for what looked like for ever? Paying $30 for someone to take a weed wacker to a track that has sat untouched for god knows how long? Or is Greedy paying someone $50 to race on a premium track, that no one else has had the opertunity to practice on making it a even playing feild? That they spent a week building to ensure it was up to the high standards they have become known for? |

I think the GLORCS series is a GREAT series to run along with the RC Pro. I think that BOTH series should give races to tracks that take the time to put in the LONG hours to make and maintain the tracks, not give races to "make shift" one weekend tracks. I am not trying to hammer the guys who try and bring racing to a certin region for a weekend race but rather trying to encourage them to reinvest the money made off the races back into the track as we see some of the tracks doing. The ones we would consider "premier" tracks not only in our region but across Canada take the money and put it back into such things as dirt, computer systems and watering systems etc...
I know from being down in the US so much that they kind work things like a CO-OP where every member does their part to contribute. It is my opinion that we need to look at things as a whole and not as a single event and inquiring in an open forum as to where the money goes for this or for that just starts **it. If there are those of us who have constructive ideas on how to make things better then i think there are ways to voice those ideas in a way to make things better. An open fourm is not the way to do it. Pissing and moaning about trophies and where the money goes is not the way to accomplish anything, it just adds to the fire. I for one whould say we have a get together at the end of the year to discuss EVERYTHING in a constructive manner. I mean RC Pro and GLORCS, racers and track owners and make a collective plan to go forward with for the next season. THAT way everyone gets a say and should hopefully satisfy ALL involved. Just my 2 cents.
