Shockflyer motor?

Hey everybody. I've decided to get a shockflyer or a E-Flite monoplane and I am going to use a brushless motor with a 3 cell lipo pack. I want a motor and esc that will allow me to hover at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle. Any suggestions? thanks.

One word...Axi .. perhaps the best brushless out there right now...beautiful motor.

You'd probably be good with the Axi 2212/34 with a big prop on there...running 3s1p 1200 or 1500...long flight times and LOTS of fun.

You can't go wrong..

Typhoon T6 brushless is very very popular for the shockflyer, I got the same one on my shockflyer, have not flown yet, but have heared that this setup T6/Tsunami controller and 2 cell Lipo 340 mah hovers around 1/3 to 1.2 throttle, plane comes in very light, mine is around 6.5 ounces RTF.

The AXI mentioned is also a very good choice and is being used by many shocflyers, but that will require 3 LIPOS.

I beleive Jason (ADMIN) has flown one with different motors and ended up liking the T6, I think he has a review posted here as well.

Hey Masqood,

Do you think maybe even the 2208/34 would power the Shockflyer? I fly one in my Gnat on a 10x8 prop and 2s1p Etec 700...seems to be great.

.

I'm in the same club as Jason and we usually fly indoors on sunday nights. I have seen his shockflyer flying and that is why i want to go with this setup. It flies really really well. I am thinking of the AXI2208/34 with a pixie 10 and a 3 cell kokam 340mah pack and a gws 10x4.7 prop. Anybody have this combo? What would this combo weigh? What is the difference between a AXI 2208/34 and an AXI 2208/20? Thanks.

Basically bigger motor, swings a bigger prop, higher speed.

I have the Axi 2212/34 and swing an 11x8 (could go higher) on my SX2....3s1p

Also have a 2208/34, flying my itty bitty gnat, but I could add another Lipo for even more power...

Weight without ESC on the 2208/34 is 45 g

on the 2212/34 it's 57 grams

Trust me on this one. It'll work a lot better with the Phoenix 10.

Seriously though, the AXI 2212/34 with 3p is great but maybe a bit heavy. With the Shock, the 2208 might be a better choice. A hotter wind won't hover as well.

If you want to one up Jason why not go with one of the T63Ds.

There lighter. Not as powerfull but well suited to the lighter stuff like the Shockflyer.

Mark,

I have to agree with the Oilman. The T6-3D would be the ultimate combo, and you only need 2 cell packs. That's what I was running. 3 cell packs would really be unnecessay in my opinion...and the Oilman has great service and a combo price with the Tsunami controller. You won't regret it.
