Large wing span
Hi
I ve seem to have a slight probem . I need to glue my wing tips on to the wing . The wing is 82 inchs long ( 1 piece ) . To hold it into place , I ll use T-pins . To glue it , I ll use 30 minute epoxy . But how the hec , do I apply a slight amount of pressure . I have tought about puhing it up againest the wall and some lead weights , or a large bungie cord , or standing it up straight and useing some lead weights Any ideas here would be greatly appreciated , Thanks Michel

Hi Michel, try some electrical tape . It springs back like a rubber band and it should give you enough pressure till your glue dries.

Hi
I have no idea what shaped wing you have, but, I'm wondering if its worth your while to rig up a form out of scraps, and tape it on the wingtip mating to the wing. Using a bungie cord sounds scary. The curing action of Epoxy tends to cause movement you cannot see, and displaces your parts when you least expect it. That just happened to me with a servo rail placement the other day. The parts have to be held securely, and there's too much play in a cord or standing it on end. Whatever help you get, or dream up, this might become a great entry for the current Inventive Work Shop Tool thread. Sorry I don't know the easy solution.

Michel, you don't have to go from tip to tip.Just 5-6 strips from top to bottom sheeting of the wing going across the tip, thats all.

In the same as Pep mentions I use masking Tape. I have a Roll of 2" always around my bench for holding things. Just use a few strips to apply the pressure while it sets or dry's.

If you have any worries about the epoxy causing the tip to creep until it has hardened, then perhaps a few T pins to hold it in place and then tape it for the pressure until it cures? Just an idea.
Wipe off any excess epoxy that might squeeze out with a clean rag and alcohol. Covering doesn't like to stick too well to the excess epoxy! I have also found that a little heat from your heat gun will help it set up faster & it does thin the epoxy somewhat allowing it to soak into the wood a bit more thouroughly giving a very good bond. Wishing you success!
