i have a 40 size gms 2000 abc engine, having problems with it dying on idle...plug is from last year so still fairly new. hers my question...how do i fine tune it not too die on me at idle, is there anything i should know about these engines and if anyone reads this and maybe has a pdf on setting these up can you pls send to me ? also i will be checking my servo settings . i am fairly new to this stuff, started last year flown great but now for the first flight having problems this year....any help would be appreciated....thanks guys....

If your engine wasn't run right dry at the end of the season and oiled, the plug can go bad over the winter. I would start there, then adjust the low end mixture.

Yes try a new plug first.... can't hurt. Just because it was good last season doesn't mean it still will be this year. Nitro is very corrosive and as mentioned by rdespins if you did not run her dry and use some after run oil some things may have happened over the winter.

You mentioned servo settings.... will it idle low with the stick fairely close to closed throttle but then quits when stick is all the way back? Check your trim position. How low, rpm. will it idle reliably before you retard the throttle even more expecting it to keep that idle or go even lower. Perhaps you are just trying to get it to idle too low.

I had that problem last few times out. OS 40..Found all the head bolts loose when I see fuel bubbling around the head...Tightened them up..
All is fine now ..Good luck...

Are you using old fuel.

The alcohol in your fuel absorbs moisture.

Try a tank of someone elses fuel.

If that doesn't help you have eliminated that as a problem.

Check the fuel lines for bubbles in the fuel at full throttle as it may indicate a hole in the fuel line or a problem with the tank.

Make sure that are no loose bolts on the head and backplate.

Check the carburetor for air leaks. Check to see that it isn't loose and that it fits snugly to the crankcase. Loose fitting needle valves and carburetor barrels can also be a potential source of idling problems.

Ther have been lots of god suggestions made. Give them a try and keep us posted.
