Engine Mounting

Hi
I m in the process of building a Tiger 60 . The instuctions say to leave 1/16 on both sides of the engine , and they are telling me to mount the engine with sheet metal screws . The 1/16 on both sides , is to accommondate the right side thrust .

I must say that I m not crazy about either of these instructions , but I do understant the right thrust

This is what I want to do , Moveing the engine mounts out 1/16 on both sides really is pushing the amount , the screws are ( that they supplied ) to the very edge of the mounts I want to mount the engine in the centre of the rails as close as possible to the engine crankcase and mount the engine with 6/32 allen bolts with nylon nuts . As for the right hand thrust , couldn t I just add shimming to the rear of the engine mount . This sounds more feasable to me . I just don tknow about the shimming part , will it make much of a difference : . I believe that this method is much stronger . The instuctions ask for 2 degrees of right thrust , that should be easy enough to shim . the mounts are made out of fibre and are black , from CarlGoldberg

Any comments on these ideas would be most helpfull , although I don t know if it is practical

happy Holidays

Yes throw those sheet metal screws out and use the 6-32 bolts.

Try one or two washers behind the left side of the mount to give the right thrust. This may take some experimenting so try one washer first, fly and see how it goes.

Michel,

you can also use 1/16 ply scraps from your kit behind the mounts.
