Your right for the main reason. It also dampens the sound so the neighbor dosen't call that idiot bylaw officer. As if there are no other respectable jobs.

as mike mentioned,just break in the engine on the plane and fly it.i don,t see what the fuss is about breaking in a 2 stroke gas engine for two hours as stated by certain manufactures on a test stand.most gas two strokes can be broken in on the plane as it,s being flown.
the same thing can be said about other two gas engines ,such as weedwackers or lawnmowers and chainsaws.just run them and with proper care there shouldn,t be any issues.

Well,

Looks almost like 50/50 here......

Part of the reason that I want to break the engines on the bench is for the same reasons as Trevor did. Winter is here and test some exhaust / prop set ups.

I kinda just want the engines to be 100% when I start them up in the airframes in the spring. One less thing to worry about.

Not that I have a problem doing them in the airframe, I have done it that way with all my engines.

Many good points so far, cooling, safety, manual instructions........ ect....

I guess I will just wait and see what I do.........

Trevor, if you are reading this thread...... what do you think, worth it or not?
