Well, ROn Roy and I broke in the new Sault field with a Jet, a Q500 racer, two ugly sticks, a heli, a telemaster and we planted my Habu in the dirt for good measure

A great day, great flying and most importantly company. Always a pleasure to see everyone. You Sudbury guys missed a great Italian dinner But we ate enough for all of you as well

Will be back for sure... !

Thumbs up Re: The Sault's new field

Hi guys;
Had a great day, even got over my fear of the water. Weather was great, canteen was handy and the speeches were short. Got in a couple of flights and renewed aquaintance with old friends and made new ones. Thanks again.

Thumbs up Re: The Sault's new field

It was obviously a lot of work, as all the Soo gang mentioned about being thrilled it had finally come to an end. All the organizers seemed tired, but the effort was worth it as as I'm concerned. It was one of the best events I have attended, including the trip down and back. The only disappointment was the fact that it came to and end!!! Yup, I'll be back!! When I learn how to post pictures, I'll try and put a few on RCC, including some aerial shots

Re: The Sault's new field

Truth is we accomplished everything we wanted to and then some.No crashes,no one hurt,lots of interesting models like two jets,a Ziroli DC3,Ziroli Stuka,etc etc......candy drop for kids,lunch wagon sold out,workers on the next door solar farm constrution got an extended lunch hour to spectate and the the boss bought the hot dogs!
Model engineering society set up their miniature train tracks and free rides were available for kids of all ages.
Our MPP,a rep from City Hall,and the local Trillium foundation rep spoke and helped us cut the traditional ribbon.
The sun came out,the winds were light,and lots of ladies walked out to our dock on the point where we had a shade umbrella and a water bomber model anchoered for atmosphere.
Hobby friends came from most Northern Ontario zone clubs,Wisconsin in the US,and very pleasantly surprising us was a visit by Linda Patrick the MAAC Manager and her sister who were in the Soo on vacation to ride the tour train.
It has been a long three years since the idea of this field was hatched,and we are tired and just want to fly for the rest of the summer,but we have a spectacular location,and lots of plans for the future (read a permanent site supporting the railroad folks,boats and of course model aircraft) AKA The Soo Model park, But this is in the future.

Re: The Sault's new field

I have to say, I was pretty thrilled to get a ride on the scale locomotive... that was almost worth the trip in itself!
