Coleman Naptha
Dose anybody out there use Coleman's naphtha fuel instead of gasoline in there gas engine's? I was told if you use naphtha the engine runs cleaner, doesn't gum up carb or engine, lasts longer and even smells nice . I would like to try it out on my G23, Quadra 35 and 52. Any opinions or advice would be great!. Thanks, Mike

Re: Coleman Naptha
I have not tried it myself but I have read all the points you make about using camper fuel. LOTs of discussion about this here... http://www.helifreak.com/
just do a search. Camper fuel has a lower octane rating. It is said to be OK with Zenoah 23 and 26. You will need to check the compression ratio of the Q35 and Q52. Don't use the Colmans with higher compression because you could destroy the engine with pre-ignition. Joe |

Re: Coleman Naptha
As well as having a higher octane rating gasoline also has additives to prevent pre-detonation.
Coleman fuel / white gas doesn't have the additves. I will stick with gasoline. |

Re: Coleman Naptha
I have run my Predator gasser for 2 seasons using camper fuel. Never had any issues, really clean running and for sure, no gas smell in the house!!
I had run my weedeater with the same gas also !! |

Re: Coleman Naptha
Also,
The Material Safety Data Sheet for Coleman fuel gives the following composition: Solvent naphtha (CAS #64742-89- 45-50% Aliphatic petroleum distillates (CAS #64742-88-7) 45-50% Xylene (CAS #1330-20-7) 2% Toluene (CAS #108-88-3) 2% However, it is equivalent in performance to regular unleaded gas but with a nice smell ! |
