What's the word on using Airtronics transmitters with the Hitec Universal flight packs? Are there any problems? Thanks.

Just make sure you get a flight pack that is compatible with JR/Airtronics...NOT FUTABA/Hitec as they are negative shift RX.

If you need servos don't forget Hitec Flight Packs are only compatible with Airtronics "Z". If just using Airtronics TX and full Hitec Flightpacks the again just make sure they are NOT Futaba brand as it is negative shift.

Jim....I may be wrong but aren't Hitec and Futaba both Negative shift and Airtronix and Jr are Positive shift?

I do know for a fact that you can order Hitec receivers for any brand of radio but you have to specify that they are for Airtronix or JR so that they will come with Positive shift. You also have to specify that they are for Futaba to get the right lead connector slots in the receiver.

Most radio systems now are shift selectable and the newer Hitec receivers are "Universal" and have a jumper pin to select the shift. I believe the only issue now is to specify that you want them for Futaba again because of the connector slots. The receivers for the other 3 major brands have the same slots for the lead connectors.

One of the main features of the HItec Eclipse 7, the Optic 6 and the Multiplex EVO series are that they come with the synthetic channel module and are shift selectable so you can use any brand of receiver sold on the market with any of these radios just by changing the channel frequency on the Spectra or the Multiplex Synth Module and selecting the proper shift mode!

Not sure about Airtronix but I think the newer Futaba radios are also shift selectable!

Yep, the newer Airtronics (RD6000 series and RD8000) are all shift selectable. I ordered a Hitec Universal pack to put in a 4-Star 60. I just had to pull the jumper out of the receiver, turn it around and I was all set to go..I suppose I could have accomplished the same thing with the radio software though

Hi,

Since I don't want to be locked into any brand of radio in the future, I now buy all my receivers as "shift selectable" when possible. The Hitec Univeral Supreme works very well and is good for .40 size plane and up, and I see HobbyWholesale has them on with 4 servos, battery pack, and switch harness for $99. I assume GreatHobbies has the same price.

Hope this helps.

Fly4Fun,

Thanks for the responses everyone. I presume there is no issue in using this combination of equipment. The reason why I asked in the first place is because one of our club members apparently had a problem, and crashed his airplane - and the blame was placed on the "Airtronics Transmitter and Hitec Flight Pack". Granted, one has to filter through things to get the real cause of the crash. Thanks again.

Gary,

In another forum you said you didn't need glasses but I think you should check my post above, again.

I did say that Hitec/Futaba were negative shift and that Airtronics/JR were posotive shift.

My Airtronics Stylus is also phase selective as well as PCM/PPL selective. I prefer to just stick with +ve shift equipment.

Ok James, sorry, I misunderstood this statement:

"If you need servos don't forget Hitec Flight Packs are only compatible with Airtronics "Z".

You did specify earlier that you must have a compatable Rx!

Just to clairfy that statement a bit more,.... I believe that you can still order Hitec Rx's with the old Airtronix connector slots in Positive shift or with the new universal shift selector pin!
