None better than IL2 (or Pacific Fighters as it's been called for a few years now). In fact a lot of people don't play it because they say it's too difficult (translated: too realistic).

Yes, you are right. There is no better flight sim out there for realistic WW2 combat flying. I have been flying these sims since they started with the original IL2 Sturmovic. Just incredible! The flight dynamics of this sim,you would think, could not be more realistic. I have a full scale pilot's licence, and I have to say It's near bang on. Just last night I was flying the Me 163 Komet on a mission and smoked a few B17's. You would think that these bombers were sitting ducks. Well, guess again. Any lingering around behind them or around them, will surely end your mission in a flaming wreck. Also. I have seen myself in an intense dogfight for over 20 minutes. Coming out of it almost sweating and a sore shoulder from all of the manouvering. I have nothing but good praise for this sim, absolutely incredible. The range of aircraft you can fly is incredible also.Almost every type of fighter, dive bombers, Bombers, Rocket planes, a few early jet planes (Me262,YP80). There is even the Mistol, German composite (FW190 on top of a JU88 that was made into a giant bomb.). You can fly off the deck of an aircraft carrier in the pacific in a F4U corsair,a F6F Hellcat, a Dauntless dive bomber, a Wildcat. Or any Japanese fighter or bomber. It's just amazing how big this game is. It covers almost every flight regime of WW2. It has dynamic mission builders, so you won't be flying the same missions unless you want to. You can also make your own missions. or set up a quick battle with Eric Hartman to test your skills agaist the Ace of aces. Can you tell I love this flight sim. LOL!!. One more thing, you can also move up in rank and win awards for your sucessful missions. I could go on and on, but you'll just have to check it out yourself. If anything will take you back in time and feal the fear and auxiliration of being a pilot in WW2. This is the sim to get.
