96 inch Unionville Otter
Has anybody ever built the 96 inch Unionville Otter? Is the fuselage more to
scale than their 72 inch square version? Any opinions on kit quality and scale accuracy ? Thanks Ray |

Can be made to look very scale with work. Someone, the name escapes me, won best scale at Toledo as I recall, with a Unionville Otter. Nicely done but it bore little resemblence to the stock kit. That is my $.02 worth. |

Re: 96 inch Unionville Otter
Bear57's $.02 worth is actually worth considerably more than that as he is right on the mark.
The Unionville kit is only sort of looks like an Otter from way, way off. Construction is basically stick style, with a bit of sheeting here and there and a lot of plastic parts. Hinging, as with the multiple flap option, is not scale or close either. It's standard sport model style. Unless it's changed over the last few years, LG was supplied as straight music wire, which was to be formed by the builder. Hardware, while basic and ceratinly not top of the line, was adequate for the task. Lots of mods and extra work to bring it close to scale. |
