Thats awesome news!!
My dad got me into this hobby back when i was 5 on .049 ukie (u-control)... He never had to ask if i wanted to do anything... I was soloing my falcon 56 trainer when i was 7-8yrs(1985)... and pylon racing by the time i was 9!
I love this hobby, and its all beacause of my dad.. he gave me every opportunity to enjoy it to the fullist... The Key to our success... dad did everything for me, I learned the "work" part later in my teens...building, engine maintence ect...
So fun now, get hooked, work later... that recipe worked for us, and thats how i will approach my kids

Re: My 8 year old is learning to Fly!

I don't believe that there's a better feeling than dad teaching son to fly. I started Mason at 5 and now 9 he is a real good little flyer.

Congratulations Jonathon!!!!

It is a good feeling Bill, that's great that your son is so keen on being an RC pilot also. My son didn't really show much interest till this past indoor season, those Vapours are great little planes to get kids feet wet in the hobby.

Thumbs up Re: My 8 year old is learning to Fly!

Getting the family involved in the hobby is great. I grew up around planes with my dad too. And now it is on to the third generation as with my 12 year old son getting his wings last year. A proud father moment for sure! He has been my wingman since he learned to walk. Fortunately he has not surpassed dad's flying skills yet. And my 6 year old daughter announced this year that she wants to fly as well. So I got her a MAAC membership and she has been having some stick time on my old Stick 40. At that age their focus is only a few minutes so I don't push her. Keep it fun and simple.

The van sure is getting full on trips out to the field!
