2011 Class/Rule Changes

1/8 scale electric open – Currently RCPS as a whole only offers 1/8 electric buggy except in Canada where we run it as an open class. Initially we were going to follow suit for 2011 but we will hold off on this change until 2012. So unless something changes with the series, for 2012 the electric class will be buggy only to bring us (Canada) up to par with the RCPS rulebook.

Extreme Truck/Monster Truck – This class will not be part of the program for 2011.
This class has not been offered by the RCPS for a year now with the exception of Canada. In 2010 only Alberta ran this class and the numbers have constantly declined.

Short Course Trucks – As announced last month the RCPS will be adding 3 sct classes to the race program for 2011. Please look for the announcement thread for the class rules.

Teching of Radio boxes – The RCPS will not be opening the radio boxes as part of the regular teching process for 2011. We will still be teching the nitro classes for weight, fuel capacity and TRD’s

Looking back at the RCPS Nats, the 8th open ended up being only buggies anyway.

Looks like I might be buying a new race vehicle for 2012!

I doubt the entries were high enough to do it.

Doing so would just split the two mains (A and B) into default A Mains for each class.

And there is no glory in a default A Main.

As a new racer this year the intermediate class helped me get faster and gain confidence. I think e-buggy could do that for the next new racer. Growing the sport is important and in my opinion an intermediate e-buggy would be worth looking into. I will be running expert buggy and truggy next year. Thanx RC PRO for the 4 Ontario races this year.

theres no point in having an intermediate e buggy class because there really isnt enough total entries to warrant it

besides theres only 1 2wd sc class and 1 4wd sc class where you have intermediate class drivers racing against expert class drivers and it works out fine

I have to agree with Filmore on this one. Intermediate E buggy makes sense. As new drivers coming into the sport that run all electric it gives them a chance at a win possible. With expert and intermediate drivers together I think the intermediate guys are at a disadvantage cause your not classed as expert till your top 5 in intermediate. But if your racing against the expert how does that new driver get to move up in the ranks if he already is put into that class at first.

This was my first year racing and loved it. My son's first year as well. My daughter is starting next year and I know hearing from them they feel "scared" when they are racing with the the "good" guys. (their words). For this reason I like the idea of intermediate in every class. Looking forward to a great next year. Thank you for a great year this year I learned a lot.

Personally I think there shouldn't be any intermediate classes. I ran intermediate nitro buggy due to not running it before however I think it would have been a lot more enjoyable to have 70+ racers in the same class compared to 45 and 25...

I believe the top 5 in intermediate buggy could have competed well in the 'expert' class. Everyone would have a lot more competition. I am a firm believer in this for ALL r/c racing. The less classes you have and the more entries in each make it more fun.

Just my two cents.

It would also make things easier for marshals, pitting and spectator viewing.
