Just wondering what you all do for a muffler gasket for these engines?? can i just get a little gasket paper from the local garage and make my own? I was looking on the DA website and don't see a parts listing for the gasket.

Re: DA50R muffler gasket

Just goto Canadian tire and get ULTRA COPPER high temp RTV gasket, it comes in a copper colour tube, apply it and bolt it on, better than paper gaskets.

Re: DA50R muffler gasket

Another method to consider: Apply a thin coat of Permatex UltraCopper (Canuck tire referred to earlier) copper (Hi Temp) RTV to both sides of a "paper" gasket. Seems to be working OK.

Re: DA50R muffler gasket

Called DA on the subject this week and response was, use high temp silicone as above, assemble and do not fully tighten manifold bolts, allow to cure over night then snug up. Gaskets available from DA and can be put in the tool box for a quick field repair

Re: DA50R muffler gasket

There's a product that wingburner uses that i have yet to try but he swears by it..It's made by Honda something like probond ..maybe he'll chime in? It's still on my to buy list...zero leaks though from what i can tell i have it on a DA 50cc that he'd once own no oil burns anywhere..very clean as well it grey in color!

Smile Re: DA50R muffler gasket

here is my .02. i have been a recreational mechanic for 13 years and there are a couple things that work really really well one of them was just mentioned by always flying. most manufactures use this type of sealer for machined surfaces example crankcase halves.the honda and suzuki and yamaha stuff is all very similar but is very expensive. Now granted we don't use alot of it in our hobby but it still costs about 20 dollars for a small tube. suzukiBOND, yamaBOND etc they can all be replaced by one product that is also being used by one of our rc manufactures AND THE PRODUCT ISSSSSSS?????
(drum role lol) THE RIGHT STUFF MADE BY PERMETEX.
this works great as a replacement for the oem products.

also one other product that is a great sealer and i prefer to use it instead of the right stuff is loctite518. this is an anerobic sealer and is also designed to seal machined surfaces. if you buy the 518 and the loctite spray on primer it is capable of filling a .050" gap. I have been using this since i have been in the hobby with glow and gas and it is not effected by either. i put a bission muffler on my OS160 2 years ago and it never leaked until i crashed it this year.lol . anyways they are both really good products and they will last you a long time.

the 518 can also be used as a loctite for screws/bolts just DO NOT apply to much and don't use the primer as you will never get the bolts out.

lots of people have problems with bolts loosning up on big single gassers (I have a DA85)
i have been using this since i bought this engine and have had only 3 cowl bolts loosen off in 1 1/2 years.

hope this helps
