Hey thks! Yes she is a great flying bird. My first one was crushed while moving.
Now I have a new kit I found winging it way. Didn't like the cheesy wire
landing gear so Im looking for a new proper looking set.

I managed to get a NIB kit not too long ago, with the glass cowl, I flew one in Germany the 4 years I was posted there, and missed it terribly. Agree, the stock landing gear is a royal pain in the keyster, let me know if you've got great ideas for replacement gear. I've also lucked into a fully sheeted (obechi) set of foam wings, with finished ailerons, that I'm positive are for an extra, they are slightly larger than the Goldberg Wing, paid a whopping $10 for the set, still has the original packing foam, and they are immaculate. I made templates of all the parts for the Goldberg kit, so doing another Extra with the foam wings might be an option. Not sure yet what I'll do with the wings, but couldn't pass on $10 for that!!!!

Oh, on my Extra, I copied all the wing ribs, replaced the 1/16th balsa with 3/32, and beefed up the tail feathers a wee bit, just with better balsa, as I've been known to rip off horizontal stabs once in a while. Highly recommend monokote style hinges for control surfaces, no gap, no flutter, and vastly improved handling!

Thats a good idea going with thicker balsa, 1/16th ribs made her fragile to handle/transport. I'm thinking of increasing the elevator/rudder diamensions?

Cool, I'll take a look at the gear. I find I have tons of rudder and elevator, without enlarging. Depends on what your flight planning is, I fly scale aerobatics, not 3D, and it's more than enough for scale stuff.
