Gp 123
Received new GP123 updated block. Con rod seems to knock when rocking the prop back and forth. Have not ran her yet just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and is it normal. Not owned a GP123 before. Even the old block which also has not been ran has a knock sound. Im use to DA,s and have plenty of twins and don't remember hearing this before running them. Any good info from experience.

Re: Gp 123
Hey doug, sorry I missed this post. I was at Toledo and had limited internet connection. The gp 123 has a little bit of roller bearing click as does the da 120 / 60. The da 50 / 100 / does not seem to have this click. MVVS/ evolution also has this. It does not seem to be a big deal on those engines. I have about 180 flights on the da 120 redbull and it has had this click the whole time. Does not seem to matter.
Use a dyno oil 32 -1 for break in and the compression will go up. These motors have lots of power but never felt like they have huge compression. Hope this helps |

Re: Gp 123
Thanks for the info. Im getting close to running her up. Do you stock the oil you mentioned? I have always used lawn boy 32:1. Is there a benefit to this other oil? Hope Toledo was good. I have not gone for a few years now. It seemed to be getting smaller each year.

Re: Gp 123
By " dyno oil " Lorne means a non synthetic oil for the initial run in.

Spelt:
Dino, as in Dinosaur. I just mounted my new GP 123 V2. (not on my run stand, but an airframe!) A few flips and it came to life just fine (20 sec). Waiting for some silicone to firm up. Then start a little in frame run-in. (A compromise Trevor) Doug, I feel your Lawnboy ashless should work well. -Dale- 100% free webcam site! | Awesome chicks and it is absolutely free! | Watch free live sex cam - easy as 1-2-3

Re: Gp 123
Sounds great boys. I should be running up my 123 (mounted in my 111" aeroplus next weekend.
I use penzoil but the lawnboy should work fine as well Brad can talk further about the click sound on engines as he changes engines like underware and has had a bunch |

Re: Gp 123
That little rattle or click you hear when you rock the prop back and forth ??
I haven't heard an engine that didnt have it . They all sounded a little different from each other. But they all had it. Some of the noise may be the tolerances in the needle bearings and races. Some of it is the piston ring in the groove of the piston. I usually don't worry about it unless it seems really loud when the engine is running. Re: Gp 123
Thanks Brad. The GP just is a lot louder than I have ever noticed on my DA150, s and DA100, s. Happen to have Jame's DLE in my shop as well and it has no noticable noise. Its good to hear that it is normal for the engine. Look forward to running her up this weekend.
