I just got a new computer with Vista Ultimate and I'm looking for a new FS. On my old computer I had G2 and this time I'd like to try Hangar 9's FS ONE. not sure if FS ONE will work with Vista, is anyone using this combination with success? Or even if you know of some one who has this combination please let me know. thanks ken

Re: Hangar 9 FS one

Hey Ken, i have FSOne and use Vista. It works fine, but make sure you have lots of ram. my old computer had 1 gig and that wasn't enough, my new one on vista has 3 and i've had good luck so far.

Holy....3gigs of Ram and one wasn't enough???? That must be one power hungry Flight Sim. My Phoenix flight Sim is running great on 512 mb of Ram and it has fantastic graghics and the physics are good too.

Re: Hangar 9 FS one

I run it without any problems and with all the settings turned to max. I'm using a Pentium 4 (3 GHz with hyperthreading) with 1.5 GB RAM and Windows XP.

Maybe Vista somehow makes the computer use more memory? If you search the forum threads linked from the FS One support page you might find other examplesof users and what their hardware setups are like.
enjoy

Vista itself requires a minimum 1 gig of Ram just to run. I have tried it with 512mb just to see what it would do, it did run but I found it "VERY" slow (personally I find it slow with 1 gig).

Re: Hangar 9 FS one

Morning All,

I have FS One running on my laptop with 2Gig from an external hard drive (company frowns on personal software on their machine) & hooked to large TV or monitor. Runs very well. My question is related to its ability to match the real flying experience. I find that it is ahrd to find a "view" which lets me keep a good perspective on where the plane is w.r.t. the ground. Makes it harder than flying the real thing (but less trouble/$ when crashing!) IMHO. Does anyone have advice on how best to overcome this "limitation?" Are the other simulators any better, e.g. RealFlight or Pheonix?

Regards,

RB

Re: Hangar 9 FS one

The only way i know of is to use a 3D background instead of photo-real which then gives you many view options, however none that are realistic compared to actual RC. But might help keep the ground in sight.

I think its a common problem with sims....just not enough of a viewing angle unless you fly very far away but then plane is hard to see.

Re: Hangar 9 FS one

There are a series of steps you have to follow with Vista and FSone. It comes on a sheet in the box. If you lost your instructions, then the web site has the details. Once followed works fine.

Re: Hangar 9 FS one

I'm very happy with FS1...the price was right (120) and it runs great on my laptop with Vistas.
