Had a very good flight today in temperatures just above zero.
I have heard of a plane not wanting to come down before.
Didn't know this meant landing on top of a tree though !

No, no, no.... the plane did not land in the tree. That would imply some failure to exercise proper control on the part of the pilot or some mechanical failure. Never, never admit to that.

What really happened is that the tree leapt up and grabbed the airplane... trees!

Naw, that wouldn't be believed.

OK, here's another shot. The summer has been rather dry and as such, has stunted the growth of the flora in your region. With recent storms and associated rains, the environment for flora growth has grown exponentially.

Now as the ground was hard, the rain soaked into the ground slowly and it took a week or so. By pure co-incidence, the water reached the roots of the tree as you were skillfully flying overhead; prompting a rare sudden growth spurt which immediately entangled your plane in the extensions.

A rare occurance certainly but cannot be unproven without a lot of scientific tests; therefore you should get the benefit of the doubt

There is also a rare occurance where by the cold temperatures and the clear air are combined. This changes the index of refraction of the visible spectrum in the atmosphere to shift in the vicinty of the tree making the tree "invisible".

Pretty accurate flying if you ask me.

The approach could not have been easy. The touch down must be spot on due to the short distance available to come to a complete stop.

Congrats

It is like a mirage effect. Instead of seeing a tree, you would see clear sky and some dud saying that it's OK to fly there.

Not a tree, necessarily...

In Victoria, we must have the fastest linemen on the planet. I was flying about, ran out of fuel, set up my approach, perfect alignment and height, and one of them linemen was fast enough that I didn't even see him install that line that caught the wing of my model. The fuselage kept on track, changed from glide to trajectory, the wing assumed the Flutter Manoever until it, too, landed...
