Skymaster Viper 2M

Hi Guys, anyone flying one of these? I'm looking for a good jet to fly from my local field. ie. 300 ft paved runway, tight to get in on (with a jet) like landing on a postage stamp.

I need something that will slow down real nice. I'm also considering the carf Flash but, I really like scale jets and besides, the external painted finish on the Viper blows the paint in the mold finish on the flash away.

Already have a boomerang sprint that I fly there but boring, I want something that will go fast.

Recomendations appreciated.... Thanks

Mike

Re: Skymaster Viper 2M

If u want fast but lands slow, get a Flash and use a crow set-up. The Viper 2m flies well and lands slow but is not a "rocket".(No faster than a Boomer) Bob Brusa in WA state has one flying with a P70 and he is wishing he had more power - and he only flies off PAVEMENT. A 30lb'er would push it nicely but then you just added 5lbs of turbine and fuel. Bobs handle is bob1393 on rcc pm him and ask.

EDIT - Said grass, meant pavement

I have seen one of these in the flesh. Very well built airframe and nice and light with lots of CF. They need a 160 as they are a fairly big airframe. Altecare is supposed to be carrying them. The video pretty much says it for low speed handling.

Re: Skymaster Viper 2M

I'd go the flash and a 120 or any of the new 100s that are coming out. The finish may be slightly nicer on the viper but it adds substantial weight to an airframe that needs to be light IMO the inner quality is much better on the flash ( yes I have one) no disrespect bob u did a great job on yours. As Paul says set up with crow and it shouldn't be an issue. I've heard good things about the tomahawk 2m viper which is avail from Peter as well

Re: Skymaster Viper 2M

Looks like the Flash may be the best choice for what I'd like, short landings and some "fun" top end speed.

i've got a P-70, P-80se and a P-120sx available althought the 120 is in another airframe right now. I'm thinking the p-70 flash combo might be nice as it'll be light and I'll only need to carry the main tank. Thoughts on that or other suitable airframes?

The Tuomo is nice but, it's too big.

Mike

Re: Skymaster Viper 2M

I'd go the p80se if the sx isn't available just for the cpl extra lbs of push build it light and no wing tank and it will rock the p70 might be a bit light on a short runway

Re: Skymaster Viper 2M

What about Carf's hawk, it's a little bit bigger than flash and would require the 120 but, can anyone compare it's flight characteristics to the flash? it's scale and it's on sale
