building a crawler

any tips on building a stick crawler i just started tonight and lookin for a few tips any imput would be helpful.

If you came to gamers lair on wed. March 1 you could see my crawler... to see what it takes to be built.. (super easy)

Anyways..

- aluminum tube from home depot $5 - 10
- "ball joint rod ends" princess auto $12 each x2 $24

hey rcguy how long is ur tube on urs and how did u fasten the ball ends to the tube? oh and how did u attached ur links to the diff?

the tube is 18" long. but 16" may be better...

the ball ends are fastened to the tube with drywall thingys... (they expand as they are tightened) then a 4-40 bolt through it for extra strength.. although it would probably be better to put a threaded rod right through the tube.. 1/2 or 1/4 inch or so... its your choice... then just lock nuts on the other side of the ball end.

the links are attached to the diffs with 4-40 screws/nuts... there are places on the axles for the links to mount to...

Do the ball joint rod ends come as a set?? Are thay mated together already or to you need to jam the ball into the rod end (male into female)
