Engine for Somethin' Extra

I have a somethin' extra that I bought second hand. It has a Super Tiger 51 in it that is worn out. I'm in the process of buying a new engine for it. So far I've been looking at the Thunder Tiger Pro 46, OS 46 AX, and Super Tiger 51.

Anybody have any recomendations?

A 9X4! Is that a typo? I'm not trying to jump down your throat; I'm just surprised. An APC 11X4 or 12.25X3.75 is good on the SE with a .46 AX/FX.

engine

One of our club members has a saito 100 in his. He rarely uses all the power.
He is one of those types to put the bigger engine in. His reasoning is the engine will last longer if it is not needed to run at max rpm. Plus he had it on his shelf sitting there

OS .50 SX...it's a ringed engine and very reliable. I ran this in my somethin' extra with a 12.25 X 3.75 prop and it was a great combo. I'm putting this setup in my Funtana now.

I'm flying a se now. If you have to recover any of it, then do yourself a favor and modify the tail control surfaces. I added 2 inches to my rudder 1 inch to the elevators and counterbalances on both. I moved the elevator servo to the rear and pull-pull on the rudder. If you have the stock pushrods TAKE THEM OUT unless you don't fly more than circles. With the mods I did this plane will do any maneuver including flat spins, rolling harriers, ect. I also have 45 degrees deflection in my tail surfaces on high rates. go with at least a 50 size two stroke.
