Fun fly for seniors

Here is a fresh idea!

A few weeks back I was approached by a local seniors care giver about doing a flight for her male clients. "We have lots of ideas to entertain the ladies but not much for the fellows" was her dilemma.

So on short notice due to scheduling issues (3 days) we called a local club & threw together a bit of a fun fly! Free chili supper for all supporting pilots as usual.

We had 4 pilots & managed to keep a plane or two at a time in the air for about an hour & a half is spite of a pretty strong wind.

It went well, the only thing I would change next time is to try & fly closer in with larger birds as some of the old folks had trouble seeing the planes.

Thanks to all who helped us!

Re: Fun fly for seniors

I work at a seniors lodge and have had static displays there. I was surprised at the gals that worked on or flew real planes years ago . I am planning to do this at our field this fall. hope you all will come fly as I get asked all the time by residents and the activity girls when they can come watch as they really enjoyed looking at planes and watching us fly on the simulator. will set up and try to give good notice when it will work.

Actually, Mervin is not far away from the Lodge himself! I think he is just waiting for a few more of his buddies to enter, ha-ha.

Hmmm, Activity girls. Memories of my youth. I might be quite interested in a flying demonstration for said "Activity Girls"

Re: Fun fly for seniors

I was just saying, I'd like to put on a "Show". Don't worry Arlene just giggles when I dig out my super hero skin suit!

Hey, I might get another maiden in yet this week. Did one just 6 days ago.

Hope Mervin, and the Lougheed club are having a blast today. Those rural Alberta fields seem to fill the bleachers at their events.
