Getting ready for GLORCS #1

Hi Gang,

Early April 2011.

Quick update from CRC Raceway in Rome, NY....

We are busy getting ready for GLORCS #1 in late May. The weather here has been awefull, thwarting our every effort to get things rolling this season. With this winter ranking in the top 5 of snowiest winters on record, it has been a tough season. Even today April 7, there is some snow around the pits here at CRC Raceway's offroad track.

However, we have been busy out in the cold getting things ready for GLORCS #1. Here are a couple new things to expect;

1 - Enclosed, fully windowed, air-conditioned race management tower on the stand.
2 - Added 8 feet of driver stand for an additional 3-4 drivers making 17 total.
3 - Increased the track size to approximately 185 x 100.
4 - Increased lighting from 4050 watts to 5500 watts.
5 - Added a 2nd set of stairs off the stand

Working on....

1 - Expanded Wifi throughout most of the pit area.
2 - Raised pit lane

Current Race Ammenities at CRC Raceway

1 - Hobby shop on site
2 - Good food on site
3 - AC power for pitting
4 - Bright track lighting
5 - FM Transmitter with large mast antenna
6 - Free camping
7 - Dual track watering system, pump and city water w/ sprinklers
8 - LiveRC broadcast with camera and sound
9 - Large drivers stand
10 - Excellent loudspeaker system with 10 speakers throughout the area.
11 - Separate driver stand sound system for pit man to driver communication

We thought we would post this along with a few pictures to give the GLORCS racers confidence that CRC Raceway is working hard to provide a good racing facility for those that venture down the NY State Thurway to Rome. Next weekend (April 15 - 17) a couple of us are talking the weekend off and heading up to Tilsonburg. Hope to see ya there.

Way to go CRC! That enthusiasm is great for the series and your regular club racers will think they have gone to heaven when they see the improvements. Not that your track needs any as it was already a great place to race!

One very important question....... Does CRC raceway have a pair of loaner boots for Kevin Taylor when he comes down to race in his sandals?

We gotta get those Quebec boys down for this race. They're only about 4 hours away!

Thanks for the nice words guys.

I wanted to post this update so all the GLORCS racers had confidence in the race and the facility.

I remember last year at one of the early scheduled events, there was no info coming from the host facility. It seemed that we were all in the dark as to what was happeneing there. I didn't want to see that happen for our event.

Just letting eveyone know that we are doing our best to get the track and facility up to speed for the season.

Look for more updates as they roll in.

Hope to see you here.
