I was at Princess Auto the other day (mississauga ONT), and they're selling 1/4" hollow carbon fiber rods, 34" long for $5 each in the surplus section. check out http://princessauto.com/PAcountry.cfm?CTRY=CAN&INF=home to find the nearest store.
