Hitec 7950TH - Any field reports?

Anyone using the new 7950TH High Voltage servos around here? Some good and bad coming from users on other sites..... Saying the servos are not liking the unregulated Lipos, with twitching and jittering over 7.4 volts!?!.... Kinda defeats the purpose if you have to regulate them......

Let us all know what you think of yours.

Thanks.

Re: Hitec 7950TH - Any field reports?

I think a123 is the way to go .have been running them for 3 years with no problems (with lipo you will still have to regulate anything not HV example/ignition/throttle&choke servo/ ignition kill )are you realy going to use HV for throttle ?,I will also be getting some 7950s but want them for the power ,hopeing there is a significant power increase over the 7955.I would like to know what guys think of the power .Roger

Using two in crawler applications and very happy. Do note though that I am running regulated 7.4 V to them....

Re: Hitec 7950TH - Any field reports?

I've got a pile of these servos in use with unregulated 7.4V Lipo batteries and all I can say is WOW!!! Power is out of this world strong (way more than an JR8711 servo on A123) and they are really fast at that voltage.

They also have way better resolution than the old style 5955s and I have never had any jittering problems!!!

I am currently running 2 of these servos on the rudder of my 42% Dietrich Slick 540 (38.5lbs) and I could do knife edge loops all day!!

My vote - 7950s all the way!!!!

Cheers

Trev

Re: Hitec 7950TH - Any field reports?

As a result of my happiness with these servos, I have recently sold all of my JR8711 servos. I'm tired of the slop in the gears of JR servos (even brand new servos) and after 30 flights on my 7950s (and my 7955s), there is absolutely 0 slop in the geartrain.

I'm 100% Hitec from now on thanks to the new 79xx series!

Cheers

hi Trev I also have been runing 7955 for a while and love them sold everything else ,how mutch differance in power from the 7955 to the 7950.the rating is higher but is it a noticable differance ,hopeing to use a single 7950 on a rudder setup for a EF 110 ,if its stronger than the 8711 it should do the job . I'm 100% 79xx converted also, smooth as silk ,thanks Roger

Hey Roger!! The difference between the 7950 and 7955 is huge, especially if you run them on 2-cell Lipo.

I started flying my 42% Dietrich Slick 540 with twin 7955 on the rudder (using A123) and it was very mushy on a knife edge pass (couldn`t do a knife edge loop). I then switched to twin 7950s on A123 and knife edge loops were possible. Recently I went up to 2-cell Lipo (increases voltage from 6.6V to 7.4-7.8V) and it is phenomenal.

I wouldn`t hessitate to run a single 7950 on the rudder of your 110EF Yak. These rudders are nearly as big as a 40%, but the plane is very light, so you don`t have to counter a ton of forces in the air. I`ve seen single 8711s used on this rudder with lots of authority and a 7950 will dominate an 8711 any day!!!

Oh.. and the other thing - 7950s are almost half the price of the new 8711HV - seems like a simple decision to me!!

Cheers

Trev

Re: Hitec 7950TH - Any field reports?

You guys can keep your warm weather. Am I the only Canadian who enjoys Winter? A book, a fireplace, and a glass of scotch make for a magical combination...

There's just something about being very cozy and looking out the window at the harsh blowing snow.

All that being said, Winter driving is another story!
