Well, apparently, all of them, or so we're told!!

AS for "Family Day", I'm working. Apparently I am receiving the legal limit for stats already. By the way, how many stats do we get, just curious.

On last Thursday, my boss dragged me into his cubicle and commented that he'd seem me leaving on a few evenings with the comment that my brain was fried and I couldn't handle any more. He expressed his concern and praised me for the pride that I bring to my job and the personal involvement and commitment that I show. He then went on to say that nothing that I do has to be fiished in one day and that I should ease off and not push myself.

"You mean that you're telling me to slack off???????"

"Yes."

I've always had boses that wanted more throughput and things done asap, but this is the first that told me that I was actually working too hard.

So, what am I doing at 8AM on Family Day?

Chasing down the details of a report on which I've found errors (my report and I know where the errors are coming from) and reading RCCanada....

Yes, something is not right here but I'm in my happy place and it's nice and quiet so I can wonder through all the items one by one and make sure that they are right.

Of course, for the people who will be receiving this report, they will not be happy because there are now a lot more issues for them to verify and validate.

I joke that if you take my job title abbreviations, you come up with "Darth ----" Unfortunately, that also describes my role in life where I am right now -- the traffic copy handing out the "you've been bad" tickets....

Frank, my wife is HR Director for where she works so I asked her:
Statutory (federal holidays) are 8: New Year, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Dominion/Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Boxing Day.

Ontario has two holidays: Family and Simcoe/Civic. Check with your HR department to find out if time-in-lieu is used or you're stuck. If there's a union contract, I'd talk it voer with your union rep as well.

Then there's Remembrance Day which seems to be there but is neither federal or provincial and is buried into may contracts or has become traditional in industry sectors (eg banking, postal, govenment)

She think that covers it for Ontario.

Oh my! HR Director?!?

Please ask her to read the Employment Standards Act. There are nine public holidays, not eight.

Quote:
Ontario has nine public holidays:

* New Year's Day
* Family Day
* Good Friday
* Victoria Day
* Canada Day
* Labour Day
* Thanksgiving Day
* Christmas Day
* Boxing Day (December 26)

Some employers give their employees a holiday on Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, the first Monday in August, or Remembrance Day. However, these days are not public holidays under the ESA.
