Don't listen to the nay sayers. If it's from Hobbyking it's shunned like dirt. (Points at Paul...lol...kidding buddy). I've had a number of items from there that have been excellent and that includes some of the EDF's. Het products for a power system are very good and are not going to break the bank. Peter A has made some good suggestions about what to get.

HET Typhoon EDF-2W-25 1100W motor for 70mm fans, 1100W with 6S or equivalent.
Lots of options on the market, this is what I used, that's all.
You can also use WeMoTec 480 mini fan if you do not want the HET 6904 fan.

Re: Hobby King Viper Jet

Brad,
You should have been at the Ottawa EDF fun fly last sunday. You would have learned alot about speed at a low cost an the high end of the budget as well. Terry Nitch flew a BVM electra through the speed trap at 170MH and i backed him up with my 50mm Mig 15 at a blistering 21MH...... LOL.. Good time and I learned alot and meet some really nice people as well It was worth the 5hour car ride form Newmarket.... Ill be back next year with a 90mm scale EDF of some kind...

Re: Hobby King Viper Jet

I am a bit biased as I have had so much fun with my Habu that I won't be caught without 2 ready to fly unless I'm waiting for parts. I can fly the s$1t out of it knowing if I total it all it's gonna cost me is a few buck for some parts. I thought I had maxed out all that fun and then I discovered 5 cells!

The HK Viper sure looks nice and will no doubt present well. Have fun with it.

Re: Hobby King Viper Jet

Hey just wondering if you got this yet. I am going through the same thing, specking out a 6s set up on the Viper jet.

I am completly new to the EDF, flown big gas and electric but man this stuff is a different deal.

All I will say is DONT BUY THE NANOS if you haven't already, they freagan suck I have had a bunch puff and so have buddies at the field after about 30 cycles.

I am going back and forth between a

HET 2W25 with a Wemotec fan which pulls about 60amps or an ARC28-58-1 that pulls 90amps. I think the 90 amps will smoke my pacs though..... Its crazy the stores say don't do it yet there is a guy from Ont that has this set up doing about 140mph on what looks to be 25c packs.

Look at the RCG thread there are 70pages on this thing...
