Re: New Vice Price

Gee, Dennis; I was wondering what sort of 'badness' you were getting into that you put a price on a vice, then I see you are talking about a vise. (Ain't English a bitch?)

Re: New Vice Price

I have the same one and paid quite a bit more. Just can't see buying another as I may run out of room on the table. They are heavy suckers to change when you want to mount the rotary table. Come to think of it, all the attachments are heavy.

Maybe you should work in balsa more. I hear it's not as heavy as metal.

Re: New Vice Price

Regardless of the spelling, that is one serious piece of equipment just from the amount of metal it it.

I can certainly see that you have more than one vice in your life, maybe two if those boxes in the background are full of the original contents.

Serious question: is this another hobby or does this put bacon on the table? Regardless, what type of things do you do?

Just another part of my hobby set up I am looking at when I retire I don't want to have to ask someone else to make something for me. I am a tool maker and I am presently looking to upgrade my lathe from a table top Atlas to a full stand up one I can take some heavy cuts with. Possibly even a CNC if I come across one. Right now I have started on four crankcases for a 1/4 scale Kinner 5 cylinder radial.

Re: New Vice Price

I am also the owner of an Atlas (TH56) and have had it for a lot of years. Although it may not be as good as the new ones I still have fun making chips. I have a mill/drill to go with it and it lets me make what I want or need. It is nice to see what other guy's are also doing as extra hobbies.
