Some of the above posts mention things that can only be categorized as "attitude". The right attitude is really a must.

As part of that, I always tell people that they have to be aware, and accept the fact that all model aircraft come complete (at no added cost) with at least one crash. It's hidden in the box, or under the covering, but it is there waiting to be discovered in due time.

Along this line, if you cannot get past the vision of your airplane covered in dollar signs, take up stamp collecting, or some other pastime, as you will not be able to relax and enjoy this hobby until you do.

Re: When YOU Were Learning......

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for all the great comments, I will be sure to add them to the website in the coming weeks. Like I said before this will be my winter project for this year. I am hoping by spring to have a full featured RC flying lesson site. I also will be adding helicopter lessons in the coming weeks. Check often and hopefully everyone finds something useful.

By all means keep the coments coming on new topics. I'm always looking for new ideas!!!

Also I added a Freestyle Video using the sim aswell. Hopefully it will clear up some more advanced maneuvers until i do full lessons on them!!!

Thanks again for all your support RCC

I'm thinking that isn't typical RC equipment. Probably more computer and GPS than actual RC.

Re: When YOU Were Learning......

Hi Kevin,

Your video lessons are excellent!

They would be even better if you have a Mode One version for each of the lessons for somebody like me.

It should be relatively easy because you can make you RealFlight to display the controller in whatever mode regardless of the mode in which the physical controller is.

Re: When YOU Were Learning......

My POV .... after you have learned the basics .... ie: earned your wings .... then the door for really learning opens ..... each to their own capabilities .... I'll just add a few expressions that a commercial pilot friend made about his job .... (scaled down to our area if interest) ....

"Never ... Never fly your airplane through a piece of sky that your mind has not passed through a few seconds before" ... and ... "Of the following three ... Never run out of more than one at the same time (preferably none) -- Altitude, Airspeed or Ideas"

Re: When YOU Were Learning......

Hardest thing for me was a right hand turn. I'm serious! I could do lefts all day, try a right and I was in trouble.

Re: When YOU Were Learning......

+1 with Frank's comment. When I was first learning, the left hand circuit and turning with the model was sort of the style. Once I learned to stand still and fly in front of myself, and keep the speed up a bit until on final things started to get a lot better, I started wearing out models instead of re-kitting them.

Re: When YOU Were Learning......

I wish, i had learned to use the rudder from the beginning ( 1997 ) BIG MISTAKE!!!!! The rudder is the most important aspect of flying 3D or IMAC.

Re: When YOU Were Learning......

Honestly, the best way to learn rudder is to pick up an indoor 4-channel heli or practice with the helis on the sim. If you fly helis, rudder becomes second nature in a very short period of time.
