Question field charge using motomaster jumpstarter

Hi,

Just purchased a Motomaster 700 AMP eliminator mobile booster pack. It was on sale for 89.99 and I figured it would be good to have one for my old car. My question is how many changes of a 3S 2200 MAH Lipo can I get off this thing?

it has a 22 amp hour battery in it. I did some research on the math and this is my best guess:

4.2 VOLTS * 3 cells * 2.2 AMP * .75 charge = about 21 WATT HOURS per 3S 2200 charge.

12 VOLTS * 22 Amp Hour battery on the booster pack = 264

divide by 2 so as not to completely run down the booster pack = 132 watt hours charging capacity

so 132 divided by 21 watt hours = about 6

- so am I right? Can I expect to get 6 - 3S 2200 charges off the booster pack?

Thanks,

- Sean

I can theoretically get 12 3S-2200 charges if I completely drain the 22 amp hour booster pack. The question is, will this shorten it's life?

Hi

If I understand things right , our chargers , " STOP " charging when the battery reaches an under volt stat . And as long as you don,t leave it in that , " stat " and charge it to , "FULL " after a flying day, it,s , " good for the battery , because it,s working

Thanks Michel,

Sounds good to me! They also had the Marine 33 amp hour deep discharge model on sale but I was hoping the $89.00 version would be enough. Sounds like it will be...

Re: field charge using motomaster jumpstarter

I've been using the CT booster packs for a few yoer now, there great...but I need to keep an eye on the CT flyer for a sale, after 3-4 summers there just about toast!

still worth every penny, and come in handy when you leave your music on too long at the field, the van needed a boost a couple times.

Re: field charge using motomaster jumpstarter

you missed the real sale - 50% off last week-end I believe. Ask if they will price match their own sale. I think it is wrong to put the same item on sale at 2 different prices 2 weeks in a row but I guess they are free to do so. The only thing they cannot do is have the same item on sale for more than a set number of days per year - then the "sale" price is deemed to be the regular price and CSIS will arrive I too purchased this booster for a backup field charger - if the outlets are all in use or I am flying elswhere. I would hate to calculate the number of recharges for my 5000 6S - might as well hook cables up to the plane
