Re: Energizer® AA-4 Rechargeable Batteries

I don't see why you can't just be careful when you solder them not to over heat them I used rechargeable AA in the past to make Transmitter packs with no problems.

Re: Energizer® AA-4 Rechargeable Batteries

Yes you can, but I would not trust my plane to them. I have tried it in the past and found:

a- You need to get a good solder connection, which can be difficult
b- the life was much shorter than a good battery pack
c- one failed without warning.
d- they do not deliver anything close to the rating marked on them.

My conclusion:
With batteries as with much else you get what you pay for. I no longer trust my models to anything but good quality batteries. It's cheaper than loosing the model!!

Im going to try a pack, and cycle them on my Triton to see what mAh I can get out of them. If they dont live up to what they are rated for, I will swap them for a cell pack out of my wifes Savage XL..lol

I'm sure if you buy quality batteries you should get a good life out of them the high capacity cells that the hobby stores sell are made to build packs. I can't see why they would deliver less then the marked capacity if they are brand name batteries. As opose to the soldering you must have a good iron and the skills to solder or don't bother you need to have intermitted connections. I would highly recommend not buying cheap no name rechargables from ebay I found the cheap China cells are crap!

Funny, I experienced just the opposite.
The name brand batteries that go in to my camera are crap, and the cheap China packs in my Futaba 9z run more than 8 hours.

Re: Energizer® AA-4 Rechargeable Batteries

I bought 4 AA energizer 2100mah cells at Christmas time for shooting pics. I touch them up every week and check them on my meter. Guess what??? I gave my wife the camera for the weekend and she got one shot. She phoned me last night and asked me what she could do. I told her to buy a couple of Duracells and put them in. I will check them when she gets home but I don't think I want to trust them in any of my aircraft.

PS: It ticks me off as she was taking pictures of my grandaughters dance recitals which was also a competition.

Re: Energizer® AA-4 Rechargeable Batteries

I opened up a thread regarding my hitec645mg moving erraticallly on my newly made 6v eveready 2450mah pack. I am not saying the eveready batteries are bad, i guess i just got a bad batch when i made 2 6v packs.
The reason I said I got a bad pack is that when we measured the actual voltage drop on the batteries, it measured a 1 volt drop which is causing the servos to miss its center,
move erratically opposite/beyond its center much like when the battery is going dead.
And that is only 3 servos on the pcm receiver programmed on the airvator mode.
I did not have the same reaction with a similiar 2/6v pack that I made and am using on my gas velox with 6 futaba 9401. However, i tried another 6v sub c pack from a buddy of mine and it did not have the reaction. Bottom line, I will make one 6v pack with the gp2600mah that I have use before and see how it goes...

Re: Energizer® AA-4 Rechargeable Batteries

I made a 2500 mah "Name brand" pack and I cycled them the first time and it came out at 1100 mah. I cycled them again and it came out at 60 mah so I did it again and they came out at 800 mah so I ditched the pack.

Re: Energizer® AA-4 Rechargeable Batteries

I made a pack out of 5 of these Energizers and every time I cycle them with my Triton they come off with more than 2100 mAh.. and they dont glitch my servos..

Last time I charged them, I hooked them up to a ground reciever and 2 servos, left the switch on overnight and there was still lots of juice in the pack next morning..

I might have done something right when I soldered them together or something..
