Nice going Shotgun!

My first build was a SIG Kadet. Great learning experience and a lot of fun.
I would like to build the SIG four star one day with a cowl modification...

Good luck.
I'll be watching.

My vote would be with the four stroke. I have a OS 70 Surpass on mine, lots of power and love the sound i Also did mine in the Sig box colors.

Re: Sig Citabria (Build Log)

After a week in Cuba enjoying the beach and the Mojitos, I went back to building and I made some progress. This build is taking a little longer than I was first planning but hey, this is for fun and that mean more fun...
I completed the aileron. I then made the second wing to the same stage and there is no point to show that again...

Pictures...

Re: Sig Citabria (Build Log)

I guess it's been a while since I posted any progress but work has a way to get you away of what is really important...

Here is some work I have done on the Citabria. I have built the center section of the wing. I mostly use carpenter's glue for the build but I am using Epoxy in the high stress area like the joints of the three wing panels.

Re: Sig Citabria (Build Log)

Wing is almost finished. I installed the sheeting on top and bottom of the leading edge and on center section. Also installed all the capstrip. Lots of work but that wing is starting to look really good.

Re: Sig Citabria (Build Log)

Yes Max, I'm trying to do as fast as I can as I can't wait to start burning some glow fuel. I only have a couple of electric planes ready to fly right now. All my glow planes need some work or repairs and I was hoping to begin the flying season with the Citabria.

I have start building the horizontal stabilizer to find that the 5/16 x 1/8 balsa stick are missing in the kit. I had to make a simple tool to make the sticks out of 1/8 balsa sheet. I am not sure if the sticks were missing from the manufacturer or if the guy who sold me the kit took them but oh well, not a big deal...

Re: Sig Citabria (Build Log)

Here's some pictures of the homemade stripping tool. I just used a piece of scrap 5/16 balsa and I epoxied a x-acto blade on one side and a plywood guide on the other side just deep enough to strip a 1/8 balsa sheet.

Re: Sig Citabria (Build Log)

I have been a little more active on the build this weekend thanks to the nice weather...There was snow on the roofs this morning.

I was able to assemble the elevator, vertical stab, rudder and fin. I had to do a couple of paper templates as you have to trace and cut some parts from a plain 5/16" balsa sheet.
