How to... tail mount servo, Raptor 30?
Hi guys,
I just picked up a tail mount kit from Megatron on this board (THANKS!), but need some advice on how to install it. The kit is the CF mount for the servo and CF servo linkage rod. So, here's my questions... 1) Should the servo be mounted with the horn front or back or does it matter? Of course I know I may have to reverse the servo in the radio, but does anything else matter? 2) How to attach servo to the mount? Do I still need to use the rubber grommets and brass eyeletes? Also, would I put the servo on top of the mount or behind it? 3) Anything I should be aware of regarding the hardware? I was assuming to just use 4 small bolts and washers that will fit and loctite them, is this right? Thanks for any advice! D Last edited by dcaranci; 06-08-2008 at 06:37 PM. |

Re: How to... tail mount servo, Raptor 30?
If it's the Thunder Tiger mount the servo should be positioned with the output shaft closest to the rear of the heli. The mount is angled, and to get a straight linkage run to the tail bell crank the servo needs to be positioned as mentioned above.
Use rubber servo grommets, and secure the servo to its mount using 2.5mm bolts and nuts. Mount the servo from whichever side is needed to position the servo horn directly under the tail boom. This will change depending on which side of the frame you bolt the mount to. I suggest making at least one support for the carbon push rod. If it's left unsupported the threaded ends will eventually pull out of the carbon tube. There should not be any up/down force on the ball links... strictly in/out. Cheers, Colin

Re: How to... tail mount servo, Raptor 30?
Thanks for the tips Colin. It's not the TT mount, it's one that mounts on the boom, see the picture at this link:
https://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/atta...3&d=1206944380 I think how I mount it (front or back of mount) will just depend on how it works best allignment wise, but I think I can make it work either with the horn front or back equally well. Just wondering if there is a reason I should choose one way or the other? D |

Pre-mount and test for best alignment and movement of rod.
