And about time, only took three years to get in the air. Seems a lot of little things got in the way lol. Flew at the Grand Forks club field, what a great site and even better members. I have to say this is the smoothest aircraft I've ever flown (prop or DF). Landings are amazing, it just sets up and lands pretty much by itself. Anyhow, this if my first turbine so I'm pretty happy with the results. I've got about 5 more gallons for tomorrow : )

Re: DV8R Maiden

Sean,

Great to see you finally got the plane flying.

The Grand Forks field looks great!

Just one problem - details !!! - turbine, etc, etc.

Expect to see you in Princeton in May

Stuffed in that big chunk of balsa and ply is:
Simjet 2300
Jettronics brake and retract valves
Two 2200 mah lipo's for the radio and one 2300 for the ECU
A Smart Fly 14MZ power expander and reg
Futaba 14ch 2.4 receiver....good thing it was a cool day given the reputation of locking out!
Robart retracts
BVM Mig 4" mains with brakes
And a Futaba 401 gyro on the elevator after hearing a few horror stories about pitching on landing with full flaps. I'll be puling that out as it lands great all on it own.

Think that's about it.

Re: DV8R Maiden

Congradulations. Nice to have some other DV8Rs around that are flying successfully. Great airplane in the air. I have 75 flights on mine and it is still going strong. Enjoy.

Re: DV8R Maiden

I wish I got one of those when he was in business, sounds like a good way to get into Turbines.

Re: DV8R Maiden

I am so all over that, any issues with giving my Visa Card number to these guys? I just had my Visa card taken over from an online purchase.

I don't know their reputation, maybe someone here can add a comment. Can't imagine starting as an arf lol! The original kit was basically a huge box of wood and another of foam...oh fun! I got tired of all the carving and sanding so I ended up using a full size belt sander! By the time it was ready to cover there was 6" of shavings and dust on the floor : )
