Simcoe Indoor - New Digs

We had our indoor last Monday in our new digs. A triple gym is fantastic!
We had 16 pilots out that night with another 8 people spectating.
I was able to fly my bigger indoor stuff with ease.

Just putting up some pics of the night.

The Sbach in the pic flew but was still a little tight in the flying space.

Re: Simcoe Indoor - New Digs

The gym at Simcoe Comp is very nice. Especially after they completed the renovations (there was a fire there a few years back).

The company I work for installed all the temperature controls in that school, and we also control the heating/cooling systems for the gym. Hopefully the air from those ceiling diffusers didn't impact flying too much.

I attended school there in the 80's. This was the first time I had been in there since the rebuild. The only thing that looked the same was the stage area. Everything else was different. I didn't notice any air currents. I was flying everything from a Vapor to the bigger blue wonder motor stuff all over the gym area.

Re: Simcoe Indoor - New Digs

The venue is great! IMHO, it is large enough to be partitioned into two areas so that two categories of activities (e.g., micro scale flying and 3D flying) can proceed simultaneously.

Hi Maxx:
Nice to put a face to the name on RC Canada. Much more room than our other venue. I was at an exec. meeting last Thursday and they had so much fun we wanted to have another indoor there this week.

This was the first time for us in the triple gym. We learned a lot and it still comes down to how many guys show up and what they bring. This last time only a few helis showed and we could easily run the smaller 3D stuff at the other end of the gym.

Glad you had a good time.

Chris

Re: Simcoe Indoor - New Digs

I received a couple more pics from last Monday's Indoor. I tried to lighten them as much as I could but they are still a little dark.

Re: Simcoe Indoor - New Digs

PICS,PICS,PICS
Good night over all. Had 16 pilots out. Little more damage to the planes tonight. One of the worst was my Stevens Aeromodel Diddlerod. The battery decided to die on the upward climb of a loop and it crashed headlong into the floor. Tore the motor and mount out and smashed the front end. Kind of finished flying it for the night. Earlier in the evening the wing clipped the wall and it trickled down to the floor damaging the wing tip but a little tape and it was flying again. Anyway it is back together and ready to go for next time.

Re: Simcoe Indoor - New Digs

Some of the aircraft.
Hank finally had some room to fly his Cub. The Vapors were flying faster than it.
