Good news.... It seems like the real carpet is available. We are going to make arrangements to pick it up this weekend. If everything goes as planned we should be racing on real carpet at the next race. No more worrying about the fibers in the bearings. I'll keep you posted... Keep your fingers crossed.

Good news, and bad news. We went to pick up the carpet today. When we got there there was carpet. But I don't believe that it's the specific carpet that was used for the R/C racing a while back. It is not "Ozite" but rather carpet that came from an old house/apartment. We brought what was there. After we unrolled it on my driveway we were able to see that it wasn't nearly as big as what we have now.

So, we were able to get 2 straights that are about 6' wide x 24' long and the ends are 6' wide as well. What we race on now it is 9' wide and 30' long. We can try this out at the next race. It'll be a bit smaller but we'll get more traction and no more issue with the fiber pieces in the bearings. All in all, the track will be a bit smaller.

What do you think???

Optimal size would be 40 x 60 feet. Optimal carpet would be Ozite. Budget, $0. LOL! Unless someone has ideas on where to get funds. We put what we had on the timing system...
