Comm Cutting: are there any LHS that offer this service?

2 of my motors look like they could use a comm cutting, yet I do not want to invest in A) a new motor, B) a new comm, or C) a cutting device.

I'm wondering if any of the local hobby stores offer a comm cutting service (for a fee)?

FastCats did, I'm sure they still do. I'm thinking it is about $7? Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

There must be a few guys at the track that could do it for you on race day for a few bucks....

If you bring the motors with you to one of Sid's race days, I'm sure some one can cut them for you. If I make it out this weekend I will bring my comm lathe with me...and I'll do it for free

I have a lathe and have cut a few of my own motors, but I don't know all the intricacies of motor tuning. All I can say is that my work was good enough that I noticed an improvement in motor performance when I was done......

Mike Steele is the man for trackside motor tune-ups, so I've heard.

I'll try to hit up as many people as possible. I think I remember what Ron looks like. If anyone else recognizes me, please feel free to say hello. I'd like to watch how it is done too. It is an aspect that I've always found "mysterious" (magic smoke type of stuff).

The rep. answering the phone over at Galaxy wasn't sure if they offered that as a service.

Outside of John's Hobby, Galaxy would be the closest LHS for me.

Either way, it is good knowing that there are potential ways around a chewed up comm.

I noticed a definite lack of power from my two main motors recently.

I think your better off calling Galaxy later on and speaking to Derry (hope that is the correct name great guy) directly...
I also believe that Scott at Boytoys also offers this service...(if he has the lathe with him)

I will try calling Galaxy again.

I've only been frequenting Galaxy since last November (or thereabouts) and Derry and his family (I'm assuming it is family that works there) have always been very nice.
