i hate rc-tech for, for sale purposes and rc canada is in imo is more of a airplane, heli etc site. I think imo with these rules this would make the for sale section more organized, more professional and most of all less headaches for everyone! Tekno.

I like the idea of only allowing interested parties to pm the seller. This also creates a dibs order that can't not be argued in the thread. Although the seller can say person X had dibs when really person Y pm'd first. But, , the seller can sell to who he/she wants.

I also think that bumps every 3 days should be allowed. It's true that threads get pushed to the bottom and people won't look for them. But, maybe with the disallowance of bumps threads won't get buried as easily

I've had my say, now on to not being able to edit in this section

In all forums I joined, I take all rules as Take it OR I Leave attitude. With this, I respect whatever the mods enforce. Though, before it will take in effect, I hope that they will reconsider what is pointed in this thread.

I for one ask that there should still be bumps/TTT/update by the poster AFTER a 24hr period. At least it will give any buyer awareness if the item/s are still for sale or already not available.

I go for PM communication. It makes the thread short, concise and uncluttered. It also takes away unnecessary thrash talk that sometimes lead to flaming.

All in all...rules are rules as Monkey mentioned. I just hope the Mods will still be considerate with some of the recommendations stated here.

Thanks.

i think a bump once a week or so is good, lets people know that its still around for sale, but no more trash talking

In one of my other forams i post in (torontocivics.com) there for sale thread works like this,

Post in the section that you are selling (parts/systems/lights ect)Post up too 5 pictures of your item. No bumps at all, your post stays up for 15 days and after the 15 days you can repost your items, its new to our club but it seems to be workng really good. The user can still edit there post and add direct links right to ebay aswell.

I just want to put in my support, being a member for a while now. I do believe bumps are useful because I've sometimes missed threads that end up 10 pages back. Of course they should be used in moderation, say limit the use to once every few days, or once a week.

With the new rules, I think many people will be "scared" of inadvertantly breaking the bump rule when posting an update. i.e. "is my update significant enough to deserve a bump? or will I be penalized for it?" Then there's the judging of where you draw the line, was the bump intentional, and how can it be proven? Innocent people could be scrutinized, making them fear the atmosphere of this forum. I'm sure we'll figure something out though, time will tell!

Just my 2 cents

Thumbs down

These new rules are ridiculous never once have I been annoyed by someone bumping a item, as or posting in for sale threads, well moderators I try to support you in everything you do but come on this time you may have gone a little to far, do you really think If i am away from the boards for a couple of days that I want to sit a sort threw five pages of ads of stuff that may o may not still be there or not be able to check a persons credulity by checking for endorsements of the persons by posters I know,

maybe I am wrong maybe there are a few folks out there who dont like the bump but from the looks of things here I think most people agree want the bump option left alone, maybe with a little discretion involved

well folks the mods wont know how we feel about this issue unless you sound off on it so if you agree or disagree let it flow.........

I have to say we should have bumps only every 3 days to keep things fair and give every one a chance to have their sale at or near the top. Response to for sale should be via PM only in my opinion. Which would keep things from turning into a flame war. But whatever..Its still a great site so i'll be sticking around.
