ES55 setup for EME60

I am in the process of setting up my Yak54 with an EME 60 and a carbon fiber ES55 pipe. This is my first time setting up a tuned pipe so I need clarification on measuring the length of the header. Based on what some of the folks tested with this combination 14" is the the ideal length.

Correct me if I am wrong. To measure the header length I should measure from the exhaust port following the center of the header to the end? Do not measure on the inside or outside of the header. Do I leave 1/2" between the header and the pipe inside the coupling?

Assuming my measurement description is correct above my header is 12". What do I use to extend it 2"?

Re: ES55 setup for EME60

Bang on Rick!! The 14" is to the inlet face of the pipe, so if your header is 12", you need to extend the header by another 1 3/4" with a 1/4" gap for the Teflon coupler. Please recheck the headerlength... Most of the stock headers we've measured are 11.5". There is variation, so not surprised of yours is 12". I've seen one at 11".

Jeff at thunderbolt sells pieces of 25mm header pipe. You could Silver Solder it to the header as an extension or you could also get another Teflon coupler and 2 more clamps.

Cheers

Trev

Better check with Andy.
He has shortened his header considerably from the 14 inch on the chart.

Ah!! Good to know!

Rick.. Send a PM to Hellflyer and ask what the headerlength should be, since Andy has played a lot with this combo!!

Re: ES55 setup for EME60

According to Andy 11 1/2" inches is his preferred setup. I will give it a go.

Thanks
