Re: new plane
I'd go a touch nose heavy to start with, as the C of G isn't always exact in the manual. It's much easier to control a nose heavy plane than one that is too tail heavy, especially on a maiden flight.

Re: new plane
With the C of G as per plans it flys great. Even better at the most rearward setting. Still flying one with a saito 125, perfect combo.

Re: new plane
Just wanted to add I maidened this plane for Rob last evening. All told was a normal first flight with the typical jitters. Nothing extreme for this one. Just the normal pattern on low rate to see how it handled. Rob even got to check out the smoke system.
Had to do the inevitable trimming once airborne, but the most noticeable differences to my Skybolt was an ease of ground tracking on takeoff and the tendency to slow dramatically if turning with a bank angle exceeding 45 degrees. Flight would have been posted, but light was a bit low and the video did not work out as well as hoped, (that and a building wind kept things relatively short). The flight would have also been a ringer but for the gear legs protruding a bit too far below the axles. Acted as an anchor in the grass on landing, making my 3-Pointer the wrong way! Nice plane and easily visible, if a little on the fast side for a bipe. The ASP 91 pulls like a bear, even at half throttle. Should be lots of fun when we open up the envelope. This is pure Goldberg: Strong, light and a good flyer. Kind of sad to see them go.
