Trust me, I don't get anything free to try either, wish I did. :P

The Quadrino does have a better barometer than many of the cheaper Multiwii boards, plus the circuit is a bit more professional routed and nice quality, the new version has nice wiring harness as well, I also like supporting a NA hobbyist with it as well, plus I know he will stand behind it 100% if anything is wrong. But there are certainly cheaper Chinese options for sure, it really comes down to budget and what you want in a controller. It is a hobby and we all have limited budgets unfortunately.

I just ordered my motors and ESCs for my new project from HobbyKing today.

All of the money I use for this hobby has come from selling my paintball gear :P
The wife and I keep a tight budget to pay off our cars so there is not much extra money kicking around. Everything I make back from my hobbies goes back into my hobbies. But her car is paid for and mine should be in a year or so.
Ah cool, ya always best to have a budget, easy to get out of control.

From my experience with the WKM GPS setup I'd lean towards getting the APM2 with the GPS that can be mounted separately. The GPS units can have issues with noise from other circuits and the motors and ESCs, on the WKM that is why it is separate and mounted up and away from other components, otherwise it can have issues getting and holding satellite lock.

That's exactly what Dany at CanadaDrones suggested. I will be getting the APM2 with the separate GPS for that reason. i am also making my frame out of carbon fiber, so I want the GPS to on top to keep from any issues with the frame. But I guess that should be part of my build thread for the new carbon fiber quad :P

Heh I still have all my paintball stuff kicking around that I havn't used in about 2 years. I'd have issue selling my Tippmann A5. Thing is basically a super accurate 15bps assault rifle. Once I get a working UAV I could always use it over the woods, no?

Exploding Fist, sell the paintball gear on Kijiji and out the money toward the RC hobby

FYI, I have sold the X525 quadcopter. Time to work on the carbon fiber 1100mm quadcopter!
