Kudos to MAAC for such a promotion!

I have not read about it yet on here so I figured I would share some news from the West

The MAAC Board and Executive have given their approval to an initiative to offer "first time new members only" a special introductory rate for the balance of 2006. The rates are $40 open and $10 junior, both including magazines.
The promotion will run from June 1st to August 31st.
Webmaster Jason Aube is on vacation but will be back soon and will place some sort of headline banner and a special membership enrollment form on the website. (hope he doesn't mind me giving his name, he deserves credit though, great site, great work)
Although the form will be much the same as the standard form, it will have one major difference - A place for the name of a sponsoring MAAC member in good standing with his MAAC number.
At the November budget meeting, the Executive will select 5 names at random from all sponsoring members and 5 current members will receive their 2007 MAAC dues paid as a "thank you" for bringing in a new member.

This is great news for a few of the younger members in our local area.
Should be good for many more to experience the hobby as well!

Please cite your source for this info. I couldn't see it on the MAAC site.

If it's so, then that is really cool. I hope it works. We can use it to rein in all the solo flyers out there. I know of about 4 or 5 guy's that this could be enough to get them involved with a club.

I am an Assistant Zone Director for Zone C, information was given to us from our Zone Director with the desire to have it be known.

I think it's great!

Geez... I was a first time new member as of May 8th this year and had to pay full price. Does MAAC have a 30-day price guarantee like at Staples?

Anyone want to sponsor me so I can get this deal on MAAC? I would really like to join a flying club... I have only been able to fly on private property so far, and its getting old!! I think I am going to be in Hamilton semi-permanently (Im from Hockley Valley, there is nothing out that way!!).

I dont know exactly how the sponsorship works... maybe someone can explain it?

Simply go to the MAAC website, www.maac.ca and fill out the new member form. Click on the graphic on the left hand side.

This will give you your 06 membership for $40.
