Thumbs up Re: New giant P51 thread, hijack this one PLEASE!

Hi Jacques;I see you are building a GP Learjet ,one thing to remember is to keep your speed on landing those engine nacells create lots of drag .my first landing was a accident as I stalled {notice not much wing there}.Good luck with your build. Frenzy.

Re: New giant P51 thread, hijack this one PLEASE!

HI

Got time for one more post

I have installed the smoke line ( or tubing ) . When I put this to-gether , I used barbs through-out the smoke line and used tubing clamps . There was a binder for the tank , but I took it off , did not work very well , so I will do it again , possibly with elastics and hooks . Looks like it will hold for a while . Looking at the picture , you can see the tank on the left , than the pump in the center , with the throttle servo on the right . On the tank you can see the vent on the left , the vent line was enlarged to 5/32 brass tubing , instead of 1/8 . the fill and out-put tubes were also replace with 5/32 brass tubing . All these changes was to keep all the tubing the same size The intake on top and the fill valve on the bottom . The intake has a Crap-Trap filter , and leads into the input on the pump . The pump was furnished with the wraparound clamps . From the output of the pump ( here it is very important that you use clamps , this is the line that has pressure , this is the place that a line will slip off ) , it leads into a check valve ( one way valve in line ) , so that muffler pressure will not get into the return . Again , I tried to keep the set-up clean .

Next

Adjusting the control surfaces on the wing

Later

Michel

Re: New giant P51 thread, hijack this one PLEASE!

Hey guys!

I'm very happy to see the familiar people coming back to this thread!

Glenn, one day I truly hope I can spend my winters where it's warm and not put flying on hold for 6 months! Florida seems to be the place for big RC events, if you have some pictures please put em up!

Mike, that spit is really nice, again beautiful work Can't wait to see that next Mustang tear up the sky with us, if I were Top Flite you'd be hired!

Pami! Long time no speak! Guess your slowing down buddy, only a 110 in that little mustang, geez it wont even reach 150 mph with that,
By the way what engine did you have in the Cap 232?

Frenzy, thanks for the tip, the Lear sure has a fast wing. I'm a bit worried about takeoff also, we have a grass strip, I increased the main wheels from 2" to 2.5" but thats it, any more and I would have had to cut up into a major rib. What engine did you have in it? Any other info about flying it would be most welcome.

Steven, I'm looking foward to meeting you this year!

I'm leaving you with a few pics of the Lear, a lot of progress recently, wings are completely done, fuse needs a LOT of sanding and carving at the front end, and the fake engine nacelles to build, plus a lot of fitting here and there, I couldn't resist yesterday and assembled the parts and stood it up on it's feet, that gap between the fuse and wing is just because I still need to make the holes for the dowels at the front end of the wing. I'll be happy when it gets warmer to switch back to my regular building room the GARAGE! It's too big to heat up to comfortable levels so I'm in a basement room right now, mind you it's nice to go build in my pyjamas in the morning!

In the first picture you can see my supervisor of operations in the back... It usually adds to my workload, I have several dents to fill now... I think cats react to balsa like catnip...

Later!

Hi Jacques;I went with that size tire also for the grass strip.I used a OS46FX for power no problem there. On take off just make sure you have enough of take off rollout before adding elevator more is better than not enough, you will notice little elevator effect at lower speeds as you have no prop wash over the elevator only just your airspeed that is why you might want to land a few times alittle hot to fine the sweet spot. The bird flys great in the air with no bad tendices and do nt forget its not a Yak .Happy Flying Frenzy.
