If anyone is serious about getting into turbines, you are not likely to find a lower price deal than this one in the classified ads:

If you look around, do a little shopping I will take about 3000, to 4000, to get a good turbine, thats great, now the airplane, convert, trainer kit or something from one of the distributers of the many kits and arfs, Its not cheap you need deep pockets or a good line of credit (wife).
I am in the process of converting a Byron F16 new kit to turbine, lots of work, building new and a set of plans carbon fiber extra formers and beefing up the whole air craft, next time a Kit, T33 or a Panther.
I figure I will invest about 5 big ones by the time I'm finished.
If anyone wants some first hand info feel free to contact me.

It all depends what you call a " good " engine. You can buy a JetCat p120
with little time for less than $2500. and that is a current engine.
If you are willing to settle for an older air start engine the prices are much lower.
The point I'm trying make is you don't have to spend 3-4 grand to get a good reliable engine.

Just my 2 cents

Hi Dean

I saw 2 advertised one for $2300 and the other for $ 2495
I'll bet if you offered alittle less you could probably get one for $2500 Can or less.

Take care

Ted

For O.S. to produce an inhouse designed and manufacturerd O.S. turbine their set up cost would definetely out way their potential profit margin due to limited potential customer numbers.
Also any well made turbine engines individual component cost will still cost pretty much the same to manufacture as many of the other quality engines already on the market at present.
The only way for any turbine prices to hyperthetically lower further than they are currently would be much higher sale volume garantees which is not realistically going to happen.....
Consider even if someone new came along with a full kero autostart engine twice as powerful, twice as light and twice as strong at half the price of a current new turbine for hobby market, how many REAL sales will be garrenteed? small numbers for sure globally really on a volume scale of things....
any manufacturer is much better off going bigger and aiming for a seriously fast growing large UAV and home built market if thats the bottom line from many manufacturers point of view I reckon anyway.
