Thunderchicken Rules the Skies!

For those of you that were at Wingham I thank you for helping me with the Maiden Flight of the Thunderchicken. On Radar the slow speed was measured at 19 MPH and the high speed would blow the doors off a certain Firebird.

The electronic retracts and brakes worked like a charm.

It was running a prototype three stage turbine spinning at 90,000 RPM. The fuel burn at 49 lbs of thrust was measured at 7.2 oz per minute. The EGT was very low at 505F. Spool up time from idle to max RPM was 0.8 seconds. Also the measured noise level was 87DB.

I have two of these turbines going into 1/2 scale Avro Arrow.

Angus you rule, see you next year!!

I know I'm dreaming but it's fun.

Peter

Re: Thunderchicken Rules the Skies!

Sounds cool, Like to see the top speed numbers for sure, if it can smoke a firebird that's something, Shulman's Firebird did 354mph this weekend for speed trials.
So, when do we get to see pictures? It's been a long time since your first tease, it's still fiction until the pictures arrive

Re: Thunderchicken Rules the Skies!

lol, you forgot to mention your start sequence, which uses a Flux capacitor, and for some reason when it was flying above I felt like a mouse in the field.

ah, pictures are highly classified

I'm a pretty smart guy but I'm still trying to figure out how you flew it in the Klingon Stealth mode.
