Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee
The rails are all recessed and tomorrow I'll glue on the decks, some balsa in the pilot area and do final prep for the canopy. Then I will bling up the inside and dazzle you! Pilot will come later, still deciding on which one.

Another snow day for my wife the teacher...she'll still have half her class, but for me heart surgery goes on no matter what! Oh well tonight I will hopefully get the canopy fitted and some other little stuff done. Have a good day

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee
Tonight I did some trimming on the canopy and started to do the fitting to the deck. Got tired of that and so switched to the rudder which I had been putting off because of the Durant box install. Well got everything lined up with the provided templates and used my new oscillating saw to cut the slot...wow what a great tool! Cut through everything like butter and a perfect fit for the box. Then I beveled and cut the slot for the leading edge of the rudder which was done prior to gluing it on and the hinge slots cut out to check the fit of the bevels. Man, having the right tool sure makes things easy... for the suggestion Trev and others.

I also trial fitted the cowl and am amazed at how close everything lines up. Will take very little to get this all finished. Thanks Dennis at Carden...awesome kit
I'll try to post some pics tomorrow to keep everyone interested

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee
The Durant was a pita but thats because it was the first time and I didn't want to screw up the rudder by cutting away too much. I made a balsa template for the sizing of the ply insert which worked better than continually cutting and trimming the real deal. I still have a lot of rudder work to do on the bottom (add a hardpoint for the tiller arm) final bevelling and sanding in to the vertical fin. I also sanded into foam on the bottom corner when I was blending in so have to relieve some foam and cut in some balsa to fix that little mishap. Oh well, thats the joy of building

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee
This week is going to be very busy as I want to get started on the covering!
So the breakdown is Saturday--finish stabs completely, glue in durant horns and hardpoint, finish tailwheel area on fuse Sunday--finish rudder completely, finish cockpit detail and final fit of canopy Monday--glue on wing bevels, start cowl standoffs Tuesday--cowl fitting, glue on canopy Wednesday--glue in cowl rings, finish wings Thursday--Glue in cowl baffle, start sanding Friday--sanding Saturday--start covering! Thats the plan
