Does anyone know where to get wire struts for retracts?
I'd prefer 3/16"

TIA

Re: Wire struts

Depends on the aircraft. I just grabbed the prebent struts for my Harvard and modified the mech to fit them.

You could bend them yourself from raw wire if necessary. I've done that too.

Re: Wire struts

If you have a wire bender, you can make your own.

My LHS stocks 3/16 and 5/32 piano wire. Just get the wire and bend it to suit.

If you don't have a wire bender, you can look up plans on the internet. I made my first set with just basic hand tools and a drill.

Re: Wire struts

Yes, I have made them before with good results but i was in a machine shop that had a nice hearty vise to help hold things while I bent them. I don't have that luxury anymore and the 3/16 can be a real B&%* to bend accurately! lol
Looks like I may have no choice but try again.
They are for a fan jet installed into a set of Spring airs.

Re: Wire struts

I can bend them for you, or you can use my tool to do it yourself. I am just off HWY#2 between Belleville and Trenton. PM me.
