Thought i would update you guys . Was talking to a friend today , who had the old style C&H ign , the mechanical type . Well he gave it to me , So all i have to do is make up a hub to replace the big heavy flywheel , & put the other bits on . have the small magnet / hall sensor. As i said i had a 3.7 sachs, with the same set up , so should work . Will sure get a lot of the weight off . Thanks again ,

Hi Al,

You can buy a little module for the older C&H mechanical advance ignitions that makes it operate like the syncro spark units. So basically you just need to mount the pick up fixed and the timing will vary with RPM. That way you don't have to run the moving timing ring and the linkage from the throttle. Just a thought....Gary

Hello,
Ralph Cuningham will convert it to CDI for you. Most of his conversions cost $150DUS. You can reach him at: 928 635 2455 www.rcign.proboards41.com Mine has CDI ignition and weighs 66 oz. Without ignition or muffler. It is a 52cc engine and will turn a 22x10 prop at over 7,000 rpm. In the right plane the power will then makeup for its weight.

Dave

Hi dave , thats a good weight for that , just weighed my heavy one it is 5lbs 9 ozs ,plus the muffler that came with it is a lb . so I'll make a different muffler for sure . guess once the heavy flywheel comes off make a big diff; Thats a lot of power too you have . Wondered too if some of the casing could be cut off ? I can do all the machining myself & fit the CD ign . Thnks Al
