Re: How to get a thrust washer off

Have you tried to tap it out by using a light hammer tap with a block of wood between the two?

Re: How to get a thrust washer off

Sorry, just saw your post in the other thread. Not sure what you can do. A puller would work but I have never needed to use one. I'll hand this one over to the pros now. lol

Re: How to get a thrust washer off

I have tried heating the aluminium thrust washer and tapping on the threaded end of the crank but no luck. I'm concerned about bending the crank if I apply too muh force. I was using a hard plastic mallet.

You need a small gear puller.

Andrew for the os hyper for bearings from the heli I put it in the oven at about 300 for no more than ten minutes try a little less time the first time, little tap on wood block .this should work for the thrust washer maybe an ice cube on the crank right after .

Sorry my friend, I had completely forgotten about that part in your previous thread. As TomG and Andrew has already said, a gear puller is really the only correct way of doing this job, especially if you don't want to cause more damage and have to do more repairs than you already have to.

Andrew is our resident engine master and has probably taken apart most every engine know in the RC World so he definitely know engines.

Let us know how you make out doing the rebuild of your engine!

Re: How to get a thrust washer off

Thanks to Princess Auto and an inexpensive gear puller the thrust washer is off and the bearings are out.
